Pro-Ject True Balanced Range

Pro-Ject True Balanced range is designed to provide a better connection between turntable/cartridge and phono stage for reduced noise floor - effectively eliminating hum, an intereference free signal with better dynamics. All of the models below offer a 'True Balanced' connection in Pro-Ject's range. You need to match one of these turntables with one of these phono stages, as both will have the mini-XLR allowing for the balanced connection. Plus, its worth noting that almost any moving coil (MC) cartridge can be used in this set-up, although Pro-Ject have also released their own.
Why is this important? The cable between your cartridge/turntable and phono stage/amplifier is carrying a very low level signal (1000 times smaller voltage than from your streamer, CD player etc) and is prone to picking up noise. As anyone reading this will likely know, balanced connections are generally standard with recording studios, musical instruments and in live concerts as they offer an intereference-free connection.
Pro-Ject has brought this concept to turntables, designed for an interference-free connection with better dynamics and lower noise floor. Balanced (XLR) cables effectively double the wires carrying the music signal, with one side inverted - noise gets picked up by both wires, but when the cable is connected to the balanced phono stage, the noise picked up in the cable is effectively cancelled out by the opposing signals.
