Description

The Gold Note PH-1000 Line Phono Stage with Pre Amp sits at the very top of the PH-1000 range, expanding significantly on both the PH-1000 Lite and the standard PH-1000 models. While the Lite delivers core reference performance and the standard PH-1000 introduces infinite EQ curves and extended adjustment options, the Line version adds a fully integrated Class A line preamplifier stage for complete system control.

This transforms the unit from a dedicated phono stage into a comprehensive analogue control centre. Retaining the discrete Class A headphone output and advanced cartridge matching facilities, the Line version offers maximum flexibility, allowing it to serve as the heart of a high-performance vinyl-based system without requiring an additional standalone preamplifier.

Pure Analogue Architecture with Intelligent Interface

Despite its extensive feature set, the PH-1000 Line maintains a strictly analogue signal path. All gain, equalisation and signal management functions are handled by discrete audio components, ensuring minimal circuit complexity and extremely low noise. The colour display and proprietary firmware operate independently of the audio circuitry, preserving complete analogue integrity.

Control is managed through Gold Note’s Single Knob Control interface, enabling ultra-precise adjustments to EQ curves, gain, load and capacitance even during playback. This seamless integration of digital control and analogue purity ensures that convenience never compromises sound quality, resulting in a high-gain phono stage capable of revealing exceptional detail and dynamic nuance.

Infinite Equalisation and Precision Curve Control

Building upon the 18 equalisation curves available across the range, the PH-1000 Line includes infinite EQ curves with four fully customisable presets. Inspired by professional cutting lathe standards, each curve can be refined using the Enhanced function to optimise dynamics and tonal balance.

This capability allows accurate reproduction of records mastered to a wide variety of historical standards, from RIAA to numerous specialist labels. The flexibility to store personalised EQ settings provides an invaluable tool for collectors, archivists and recording professionals. By offering near limitless curve adjustment within a fully analogue design, the PH-1000 Line ensures vinyl is reproduced with faithful tonal accuracy and authentic musical character.

Comprehensive Cartridge Matching and Input Flexibility

The PH-1000 Line provides 14 gain levels, extending from 40 dB for moving magnet cartridges up to 65 dB for moving coil designs, exceeding the range of the Lite model. Twelve load options for RCA inputs and eight for balanced XLR inputs allow precise impedance matching, while seven capacitance selections optimise MM performance.

Three primary phono inputs are standard: two unbalanced RCA and one balanced XLR, with additional RCA and XLR connections available for external loading or line integration. This extensive flexibility ensures compatibility with virtually any cartridge, from established reference designs to highly specialised models requiring meticulous adjustment.

Integrated Class A Preamplifier and Headphone Output

The defining enhancement of the Line version is its fully integrated Class A preamplifier stage, offering both RCA and XLR line outputs for direct connection to power amplifiers. This elevates the PH-1000 Line beyond a phono stage, allowing it to function as the central hub of an analogue system.

The dedicated headphone output routes the signal directly from vinyl to headphones through the shortest possible path, preserving immediacy and clarity. Additional features include mono and stereo modes with phase inversion, channel swapping, and a selectable infrasonic filter. Together, these facilities provide comprehensive system control while maintaining exceptional sonic refinement.

Reference Build and Modular Expansion

Housed in a precision-machined aluminium chassis and powered by a dual mono linear power supply with auto-sensing voltage, the PH-1000 Line reflects meticulous Italian craftsmanship. With a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, distortion below 0.01 per cent, a signal-to-noise ratio of 100 dB and a dynamic range of 110 dB, its measured performance supports its reference ambitions.

The modular design allows further enhancement through the optional PSU-1250 or PSU-1000 external power supplies and TUBE-1012 or TUBE-1006 valve stages. Weighing 12 kilograms and engineered without compromise, the Gold Note PH-1000 Line Phono Stage with Pre Amp stands as the ultimate evolution of the PH-1000 platform.
