Description

The Gold Note PH-1000 Lite Phono Stage represents the essential expression of the PH-1000 platform, designed for listeners seeking reference-level performance with streamlined configuration. Positioned below the fully specified PH-1000 and PH-1000 LINE models, the Lite retains the core architecture, analogue purity and build quality that define the series, while focusing on the most widely required features.

It delivers three independent inputs, comprehensive gain and loading adjustment, and an extensive library of equalisation curves, making it exceptionally adaptable to both MM and MC cartridges. By concentrating on fundamental performance without optional expansion modules, the PH-1000 Lite offers a highly refined and versatile solution for serious analogue systems.

Fully Analogue Architecture with Intelligent Control

At its heart, the PH-1000 Lite is a fully analogue phono stage engineered to preserve signal integrity at every step. All audio functions are managed through discrete components, ensuring a minimal signal path and ultra-low-noise performance. The digital interface and colour display operate independently of the audio circuitry, so adjustments never compromise sound quality.

Control is managed through Gold Note’s Single Knob Control system, allowing precise changes to gain, load, capacitance and equalisation without interrupting playback. Firmware support enables future updates, ensuring long-term adaptability. The result is an advanced yet intuitive phono stage that combines professional-level flexibility with uncompromising analogue purity.

Extensive Equalisation and Cartridge Matching

The PH-1000 Lite provides access to 18 equalisation curves, each with an Enhanced option for refined tonal balance and dynamic expression. This enables accurate playback of records mastered to different historical standards, including RIAA and numerous label-specific curves. Inspired by professional cutting lathe technology, the equalisation system ensures faithful reproduction across diverse vinyl collections.

Gain is adjustable from 40 dB for moving magnet cartridges up to 60 dB for moving coil designs, with fine adjustment options available. Twelve load settings for RCA inputs, eight for XLR, and multiple capacitance selections allow precise cartridge matching, ensuring optimal synergy with both contemporary and more specialised designs.

Connectivity and Signal Management

Three independent phono inputs are provided as standard, comprising two unbalanced RCA and one balanced XLR, allowing multiple tonearms or cartridges to be connected simultaneously. Both balanced and unbalanced outputs are available, operating in Class A for consistent drive and tonal integrity. A dedicated headphone output routes the signal directly from the phono stage to headphones, creating a short and uncompromised listening path.

Additional features include selectable mono and stereo modes, phase inversion options, channel swapping and a switchable infrasonic filter at 10 Hz. Together, these facilities allow precise control over playback conditions while maintaining a clean and coherent signal flow.

Performance and Technical Precision

The PH-1000 Lite delivers a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz within tight tolerances, with total harmonic distortion kept below 0.01 percent. A signal-to-noise ratio of 100 dB and a dynamic range of 110 dB ensure wide headroom and low background noise. The dual mono linear power supply supports stable operation across global voltages with automatic sensing, while overall power consumption remains modest.

Output impedance is carefully controlled to ensure compatibility with a wide range of preamplifiers and integrated amplifiers. These technical foundations underpin a presentation characterised by precision, dimensionality and finely resolved detail.

Construction, Modularity and Long-Term Performance

Machined from precision-engineered aluminium, the chassis reflects the high standards applied throughout production, with rigorous quality-control procedures ensuring consistency. While the Lite model focuses on core phono performance, the PH-1000 platform retains modular potential, with compatibility for external Gold Note power supplies and valve output stages in the broader range.

Compact yet substantial, the unit integrates easily into high-performance systems. Weighing 12 kilograms and housed in a robust enclosure, the Gold Note PH-1000 Lite Phono Stage combines engineering depth with operational flexibility, offering a sophisticated and enduring foundation for reference-quality vinyl reproduction.
