As part of the flagship SPL-X Series, the SPL-X12 combines advanced DSP technology, premium driver engineering, and immense amplifier power within a carefully reinforced sealed cabinet design. Advanced Carbon Driver and High-Power Amplification

At the core of the Velodyne SPL-X12 12” Subwoofer is a specially developed 12-inch high-performance driver engineered for extreme accuracy and output capability. The driver features a rigid carbon fibre cone combined with a dual-spider suspension system and a heavily ventilated basket structure that helps maintain precise cone control even at elevated output levels.

Supporting this advanced driver assembly is a substantial triple ferrite magnet motor and an oversized four-layer 102mm voice coil that allows the SPL-X12 to handle significant power while minimising distortion. Power is provided by a sophisticated Class D amplifier capable of delivering 1200 watts RMS and up to 1700 watts peak output.

This enormous reserve of clean amplification allows the SPL-X12 to reproduce deep, room-filling bass with outstanding impact while preserving low-level detail and dynamic precision. The result is bass performance that feels both powerful and highly refined across every listening scenario.

Intelligent DSP Processing and App-Based Control

The Velodyne SPL-X12 12” Subwoofer integrates extensive digital signal processing features that allow users to tailor performance precisely to their listening environment. Using the included AutoEQ system and calibration microphone, the subwoofer can automatically analyse room acoustics and apply detailed corrections for smoother, more accurate low-frequency reproduction.

Through the dedicated control app, users gain access to a fully parametric 6-band equaliser, adjustable low-pass crossover settings, subsonic filters, high-pass filters, phase adjustment, and delay control up to 500 milliseconds. Multiple presets can also be stored for different listening scenarios, making the SPL-X12 exceptionally versatile for both music and home cinema use.

This intelligent DSP system ensures the subwoofer integrates seamlessly into a wide range of systems while compensating for common room acoustic issues that can negatively affect bass performance. All adjustments can be made conveniently from the listening position for maximum ease of use.

Part of the Reference SPL-X Series

While the Velodyne SPL-X12 12” Subwoofer offers an excellent balance of deep bass extension, dynamic power, and room-friendly dimensions, it also forms part of the broader SPL-X family that includes 10-inch, 15-inch, and 18-inch models. Its heavily reinforced HDF sealed cabinet construction minimises unwanted resonance and vibration, helping preserve the subwoofer’s clean and articulate sonic character. Measuring approximately 380mm wide, 400mm high, and 480mm deep, the SPL-X12 strikes an ideal balance between substantial bass capability and manageable room placement.

At around 35kg, the cabinet feels exceptionally solid and acoustically inert, contributing to its stable low-frequency performance. Connectivity options include stereo RCA and LFE inputs, balanced XLR stereo and LFE connections, plus high-level speaker inputs for compatibility with a wide variety of stereo amplifiers, AV receivers, and processors.
