Description
The Trinnov Amplitude 16 Sixteen Channel Power Amplifier is a versatile unit for the ultimate in-home cinema systems. It can be used for multi-channel systems such as Dolby Atmos and can meet many power requirements. Two 8-channel amplifier blocks are used with individual power supplies.
The output is 200 watts per channel into 8 Ohms. Power can also be boosted by bridging outputs to double the power. Lastly, the unit is well protected against overload and can be operated remotely by the trigger input.
High power amplification
Two 8-channel amplifier blocks are used by the Trinnov Amplitude 16 Sixteen Channel Power Amplifier. These are built into a single 3RU chassis. The power output is a massive 3200 watts at 230 Volts. Each 8-channel amplifier chassis has its own power supply and mains connector. The THD is 0.1%.
Bridge modes available
To boost the power for the most used channels the Trinnov Amplitude 16 Sixteen Channel Power Amplifier can be used in bridge mode. For example, the normal output is 200 watts per channel but in bridge mode, this is doubled to 800 watts at 8 Ohms. As a result, the left, right, and centre channels could be boosted in a home cinema system.
Compact Tascam DB25 input connectors
To save space and reduce noise pickup the Trinnov Amplitude 16 Sixteen Channel Power Amplifier uses Tascam DB25 connectors for the audio inputs. The DB25 is a balanced connector and does away with the need for individual XLR connectors. Moreover, front panel LEDs identify normal operation, clipping, and the bridge status of the outputs. Additionally, each output is protected against short circuits and overloading. Lastly, trigger inputs are provided so that the unit can be turned on remotely.
Low noise inputs
The Trinnov Amplitude 16 Sixteen Channel Power Amplifier is a good match for the Altitude AV processor, also from Trinnov. The input of the Amplitude 16 matches the output of the Altitude, as a result, noise is kept to a minimum. This is important as Dolby Surround systems can have twenty or thirty speakers and any noise would be very noticeable.
Audio over IP capable
Audio over IP is on the way and the Trinnov Amplitude 16 Sixteen Channel Power Amplifier has a built-in IP input board. As a result, the unit can be connected to a home network for reading IP sound. The connection also allows for remote monitoring of the amplifier status.
Dolby Atmos and a typical use case
A typical use case for the Trinnov Amplitude 16 Sixteen Channel Power Amplifier would be a Dolby Atmos home cinema system in a large room. Dolby Atmos is an immersive 3D sound system that was first used in cinemas but is now available in the home, by using a Dolby Atmos capable AV receiver. Up to sixteen channels can be used, but you can also use less.
The Trinnov Amplitude 16 Sixteen Channel Power Amplifier could use six of the amplifiers in bridge mode for the Front left, right and centre channels. In contrast, the other 10 channels are used for the rear, height, and ceiling speakers. Dolby Atmos uses sound “objects” that can be panned to anywhere in 3D space.
