The System Audio Silverback 1 Wireless On Wall Speakers are only the size of an A4 sheet of paper but fill the room with sound. The discreet design sounds amazing without dominating the room. They can be hung on the wall with one screw and the only cable you need is the power cable.
They can also be placed on a shelf. Moreover, the only thing you need to enjoy great music is a smartphone. However, you can also control these wireless speakers via a digital control unit. The speakers are designed to go with the System Audio Stereo Hub. This is a control unit that will connect all of your audio equipment to the wireless universe.
Specially designed for wall placement
Speakers that are designed to be wall-hung need to be specially designed. Consequently, the Silverback 1 Wireless On Wall Speakers use digital technology and know-how to create a great sound. The bass is especially pleasing.
The sound is rich and warm due to the good matching between the amplifier and the driver. The woofers provide great musicality and make the speakers sound larger than they are.
Acoustic lens tweeter
The vocals are sweet and clear due to the use of an acoustic lens tweeter. Moreover, this is a purely digital amplifier and does not use a passive crossover. The digital system also protects the speaker from overload. The crossover splits the audio band into two signals to feed the tweeter and woofer, with only the high frequencies going to the tweeter.
This is normally done with passive filters. However, the SIlverback 1 Wireless On Wall Speakers uses active methods to provide an accurate crossover frequency. There are actually two amplifiers in each speaker for the different frequency bands.
Class D amplifier
There are two 80 Watt Class D amplifiers in each speaker and the frequency response is 45Hz to 25 KHz. Connection is via WIFI or line-in. Class D amplifiers are digital right up to the drivers. As a result, no noise can enter the system. Moreover, Class D amplifiers are close to 90% efficient.
Hence they are often used for active speakers where space is at a premium. Class D uses less power and generates less heat than conventional linear amplifiers. The output signal is made up of a set of high-frequency pulses, this is known as Pulse Code Modulation (PCM). MOSFET transistors are used on the output. Notably, these can switch at high frequencies. The unit uses less than 2 Watts in standby.
