- Vented aluminum voice coil former to maximize thermal control while minimizing air compression artifacts at high drive levels.
- Crossover & Cabinet Specs:
- Crossover:
- 2-way crossover with premium-grade capacitors, inductors, resistors, and heavy-trace printed circuit board
- Tweeter-to-Woofer crossover: 1.9 kHz
- Cabinet:
- Time-aligned cabinet geometry introduces microsecond-level time delays between the drivers, ensuring that the effective-acoustic-center of each driver is equidistant from the listener. The result is improved linearity and directionality throughout the crossover frequencies, and a more accurate soundstage..
- Chamfered front baffle and flush-mounted drivers reduce edge diffraction and improve on-axis and off-axis high-frequency response.
- Extra-thick 1” (25mm) driver baffle ensures a rigid, resonance-free mounting for all drivers.
- FEA-optimized ¾” (18mm) cabinet construction, bracing, and acoustic insulation eliminate acoustic and structural resonances, ensuring an inert enclosure and an uncolored response, even at the highest drive levels.
Description
The SVS Ultra Evolution Nano Speakers are the smallest in the range but still pack a punch. They can also be used as the rear or front speakers in a surround sound system. Maximum power handling is 150 watts.
The curved front baffle contains a 1” Diamond carbon-coated tweeter along with a 5.25” bass/midrange unit. The curvature is designed to improve the timing of the two drivers creating a more coherent sound.
Curved baffle for coherent sound
The curved baffle of the SVS Ultra Evolution Nano Speakers is home to a 1” premium tweeter and a 5.25” bass/midrange unit. The curve is designed to correct any timing errors between the drivers.
This delivers a more coherent sound with a single-point source effect. The sound has a convincing and immersive presentation that is especially good for surround channels. The imaging is also improved.
Diamond Carbon coated tweeters for stunning highs
The SVS Ultra Evolution Nano Speakers feature a premium 1” Diamond carbon-coated tweeter. The coating is vapour-deposited and has the effect of making the cone more rigid and less prone to breakups. Moreover, the upper-frequency range is extended to well above human hearing.
As a result, the sound is airy and clear. Additionally, the low-frequency range of the tweeter is extended. The result is a closer match with the bass/midrange unit. Lastly, the grille has been upgraded and has a wider mesh for improved high-frequency dispersion.
Glass fibre composite cone for stunning dynamics
The cone of the bass/midrange unit in the SVS Ultra Evolution Nano Speakers is made of a glass fibre composite. This is stronger and more rigid than paper. The 5.25” cone delivers stunning dynamics and flawless tonal accuracy. The rear-firing bass reflex port also boosts the bass. Lastly, the Precision-cast aluminium alloy basket keeps the components in the correct alignment.
Advanced cabinet and crossover design
Internal chambers are used in the design of the SVS Ultra Evolution Nano Speakers. These provide isolation for the tweeter and woofer. Consequently, there is no mutual interference, so the sound is uncoloured and accurate. There is also a reduction in resonance. Another upgrade has been performed on the crossover with only premium components used.
Crossover design
The SVS Ultra Evolution Nano Speakers has a two-way design and features a rear-firing bass port. Small speakers often have this feature to boost the bass. The crossover has been computer-modelled for optimal performance. The crossover splits the audio band into two components for feeding to each driver.
It is essentially a high-pass filter made up of capacitors and inductors. In the past capacitors had a paper dielectric this attracted moisture and caused them to go electrically leaky. Nowadays a polypropylene dielectric is used, this has a lifetime measured in decades.
