Description
Sennheiser IE200 in-ear earphones from Sennheiser feature the same drivers as the renowned IE300, at a lower price point. 7mm extra wide band transducers are used for almost non existent harmonic distortion. The frequency response of the IE200 is only usually seen in much higher priced units - it extends down to 6Hz. The IE200 is a wired unit so there are no batteries to go flat. Moreover, the braided cable resists tangles and provides a clean signal to the earbuds.
Drivers
The 7mm drivers have virtually no distortion. They also have a wide frequency response from 6Hz to 20 kHz with no peaks and troughs. Transients are produced with great precision across a very flat frequency response. As a result snare drums can be heard clearly and vocals sound like you are in the room with the artist. The supplied cable is braided to prevent tangles. There are also a range of ear tips as well as a carry bag.
No compromise sound quality
The IE 200 earbuds have been specially tuned so that frequency response does not drop off suddenly at the extremes. This is remarkable for in-ear devices and means that you do not have to compromise sound quality over convenience. This is known as diffuse field equalised response.
No flat batteries
With the wired IE200 there are no batteries to charge or go flat. Just plug and play, for beautiful, full and rich sound that is full of detail and presence. The highly adaptable body will fit any ear size making audiophile sound available to anyone.
Ear tips
How tightly the ear tips fit affects the bass response. As a result, the IE200 comes with two position tips so that you can choose the amount of bass.
Earbud types
There are three basic types of earbuds. True wireless earbuds or TWS, wireless earbuds with a cable, and wired earbuds, all have various advantages and disadvantages. Wired earbuds have superior sound quality and are favoured by audiophiles.
With wireless earbuds the DAC and amplifier is built into the units. Along with DSP Digital signal processing. The signal is usually transferred from your device using Bluetooth. They have good passive isolation and seal the ears completely. They also stay in the ears better during physical activity.
There are also wireless Bluetooth headphones with a cable. They have the advantage of catching an earbud if it falls out. Disadvantages include low battery life, about ten hours, and cable noise. This is caused when cables rub against the body. As the result the noise is transferred into the ear.
The third type of earbuds are the wired type like these IE200 earphones. These are preferred by some audiophiles as they do not have a built in DAC so you can use better quality external DACs. Small portable DACs connect via USB, which is useful, as some modern phones do not have a headphone socket. Finally, wired earbuds do not use any Digital Signal Processing or DSP.
