Description
Ruark Sabre R speakers can be bought separately or as part of an all-in-one system known as the Ruark Audio R610 Music Console All-In-One System. The speakers have a classic 70s look but with modern sound and components. Additionally, a bass port is fitted to boost the low frequencies.
The tweeter is a quality 26mm silk domed unit with a neodymium magnet. Next, the woofer is a 15cm treated paper unit with a long throw and powerful four-layer voice coil. Lastly, the cabinet is well-braced and available in various furniture-grade finishes.
Bass reflex system
The woofer in the Ruark Sabre R speakers is a 15cm treated paper cone type. This prevents the cone from attracting moisture. Additionally, there is a four-layer voice coil and a long throw motor system. This allows the unit to handle amplifier powers up to 100 watts. Moreover, the bass reflex system features a bass port to boost the lower frequencies. As a result, the speakers can go as low as 50 Hz.
Silk domed tweeter
The silk-domed tweeter provides a natural sound and is mounted as close as possible to the woofer to prevent timing errors. The 26mm unit also has a powerful neodymium magnet.
A quality crossover
The crossover frequency used by the Ruark Sabre R speakers is 2.2kHz. This is chosen to best match the drivers. Crossovers are used to split the audio into bands for feeding to the respective drivers. Notably, crossovers are made up of capacitors and inductors. Only the best components are used, as evidenced by the fact that many of the original Sabre-Rs are still in use today.
Well braced cabinet
The cabinet is made of resonance-free MDF and comes in various furniture-grade finishes. There is also a magnetic grille fitted. Lastly, the binding posts are gold-plated and can take plugs, bare wires, or spade connectors.
The Ruark Audio R610 Music Console All-In-One System
The Ruark Audio R610 Music Console All-In-One System is available with or without the Sabre R speakers. The console is a very highly specified unit with a range of good streaming options as well as an input for MM turntables. There is also a built-in DAB and FM radio. Moreover, modern PSU and amplifier technology means that the output power is 75 Watts per channel whilst still being a compact unit.
