The Quad 3 Integrated Amplifier is a bold new chapter in Quad’s storied legacy, fusing classic British audio aesthetics with modern innovation. Drawing visual inspiration from the iconic Quad 22 and 33 preamps, this new amplifier pays tribute to the brand’s rich history while embodying the design language and functionality of contemporary high-end audio gear.
It follows the success of the reimagined 33/303 pre/power amp, but unlike that homage, the Quad 3 is a completely new design. Crafted under the direction of acclaimed designer David McNeill, the unit features an industrial design that captures the vintage charm of the originals, such as the flush-mounted rotary controls and two-tone fascia, updated with a refined finish that befits modern audiophile expectations.
Timeless Design Meets Advanced Control
While the Quad 3 may appear retro at first glance, its control interface is a sophisticated blend of analogue feel and digital precision. The familiar row of rotary knobs now functions as digital encoders, managing source selection, volume, balance, and tone via the distinctive “tilt” control originally devised by Quad founder Peter Walker.
This tilt function subtly adjusts the tonal balance across the frequency spectrum around a central 650Hz axis, allowing for either a warmer or cooler sound signature without distorting the musical integrity. Combined with an independent bass control, these tools enable fine-grained tuning to suit room acoustics, content type, or listener preference, all executed within the analogue domain.
A backlit LCD display adds a charming modern-retro twist, echoing the aesthetic details of the classic 33 while remaining entirely functional.

On the analogue side, the discrete Class AB output stage with CFB topology provides clean, stable output, backed by a robust 235VA toroidal transformer.
