Description
The Q Acoustics 3010c Speakers are an addition to the renowned 3000 series. This speaker delivers a performance well beyond its diminutive size and is the smallest in the range. As a bookshelf speaker, it sounds bigger than it looks and features a continuous curved cone bass/mid-driver.
The driver delivers better bass quality. Moreover, it integrates well with the tweeter. Additionally, the tweeter is hermetically sealed. This reduces distortion. Lastly, the cabinet uses Q Acoustics point-to-point bracing for low resonance.
Continuous cone bass/mid driver
The C3 Continuous Curved cone driver combines the best properties of a straight conic cone with those of a flared cone. Extensive research resulted in a design that has excellent bass perfomance along with a well-controlled midrange.
The continuous curved cone has excellent dispersion as well as a well-controlled frequency response. The deep bass dynamics are improved and the damped low end makes placement against a wall possible. The cabinet design also resists standing waves.
Hermetically sealed tweeter
The Q Acoustics 3010c Speaker is fitted with a hermetically sealed tweeter that is mechanically isolated. As a result, it is resistant to internal pressure modulations. The floating design also has a vented rear chamber.
This reduces distortion and delivers a lower crossover point. The integration with the bass/midrange unit is then improved.
Point to point braced cabinet
Q Acoustics uses a proprietary P2P bracing structure in the Q Acoustics 3010c Speaker. This supports the parts of the cabinet most prone to resonances. As a result, the cabinet is exceptionally rigid.
This is designed to improve the focus of the stereo image. Delivering a more accurate soundstage. The cabinet design is modern and minimal with no visible joints or fixings. Four luxury finishes are available.
Why bookshelf speakers?
Bookshelf speakers are ideal for small to medium-sized rooms. They do not dominate the space and are easy to place. They can be used on a shelf or stand mounted. The design of the Q Acoustics 3010c Speaker can produce good bass on its own.
However, a subwoofer can add punch. Bookshelf speakers are also good for home cinema systems. They can be used as the main speakers as well as the rear and side speakers.
Are speaker stands needed with bookshelf speakers?
The Q Acoustics 3010c Speakers can be stand-mounted for enhanced sound. While not essential, stand mounts can prevent sound reflections and diffractions. For example, feedback issues can result from having a turntable on the same surface as the speakers. Stands can also make the bass less boomy. Stands also have damping characteristics that isolate the speakers from the floor.
