The Puritan Audio Classic Plus Mains Cable is an upgrade over the Puritan Audio mains cable. It features a Magnetic shield layer to the Carbon resistive layer of the Classic cable. This can improve on the interference suppression capabilities. All of the Puritan main’s cables use a specially developed sheath insulation. This is made of extremely soft and flexible plastic that covers both the conductors and the outer sheath. This is designed to absorb vibration, moreover, an anti-friction compound is used to aid flexibility. Puritan mains cables are designed to reduce and noise by dissipating it as heat or by shorting it to earth.

Description

Copper conductors

After years of testing and development, Puritan now use high grade copper in their cables. Copper is only slightly less conductive than silver and is a fraction of the cost. Moreover, silver provided no audible benefit, during tests. Puritan tested many gauges of wire before stranded, 15 AWG wire was chosen. The Puritan Ultimate mains cable has a current capacity of 20 Amps. The theory is that, vibration is induced in the cable, from the music in the room, This is thought to interfere with the sound.

Why shielded mains cables?

The environment in a house can be subject to all kinds of electromagnetic interference. This can come from Wi-Fi routers, smartphones, as well as noise from switching power supplies. Manufacturers go to great lengths to shield their equipment. However, a poor-quality mains lead can cause all of this to be in vain. Hence the need for puritan audio shielded mains leads.
