Description
The PulseEight Pro Amp 8 Zone Power Amplifier is an eight-zone power amplifier designed for the larger home. It has eight high-powered stereo speaker outputs that can be fed to speakers in multiple rooms. The unit can be configured for surround sound in one room or be used to distribute stereo audio throughout the house.
The eight Inputs are via standard RCA connectors while the outputs are via 4 pole Phoenix connectors. The inputs need to be driven from an AV receiver to switch the audio sources and decode the surround signal. Alternatively, the is a Dolby 5.1 SPDIF input for a direct mappable input.
Powerful class D amplifiers
The compact British-made PulseEight Pro Amp 8 Zone Power Amplifier features 16, 100 watt per channel Class D amplifiers. For versatility, these can also be used in bridge mode. In other words, the two stereo zone outputs can be combined into one channel for double the power.
Class D is a digital system where the audio is converted into high-frequency pulses. This makes the system almost 90% efficient it also generates less heat. It would be virtually impossible to have sixteen conventional Class A/B amplifiers in a small space.
Dolby Digital
The PulseEight Pro Amp 8 Zone Power Amplifier has an SPDIF input that can be used for creating a 5.1 system. This has six surround channels as well as the front speakers. The .1 refers to a subwoofer and the PulseEight Pro Amp 8 Zone Power Amplifier has a line-level subwoofer output.
Easy web interface
Most PulseEight products, including the PulseEight Pro Amp 8 Zone Power Amplifier, use a web interface control system rather than an app. This means that they can be controlled remotely from any device that has a web browser installed.
Digital signal processing is included along with EQ controls. Moreover, there is a fault detection system that protects the unit. Next, there is a 12V trigger input that will turn the unit on when an AV front end is turned on.
Using a distribution amplifier
Distribution amplifiers are meant for a larger home that has multiple rooms. However, the PulseEight Pro Amp 8 Zone Power Amplifier can also be used to create a surround sound setup in the same room. The combination of eight inputs and eight bridgeable outputs makes the unit versatile enough for most uses.
The Dolby Digital functionality was described earlier. However, another use would be to have speakers in multiple rooms. The web interface allows for any input to be sent to any room.
