Description
The Pro-Ject Juke Box E1 Turntable is an all-in-one turntable system with a built-in Class D, 50 Watts per channel amplifier. Just add speakers for a full system. It can also play back-streamed music via Bluetooth.
The E1 is an upgrade over the popular Juke Box E with a new tonearm and more convenient speed switching. Moreover, a remote control is provided. Lastly, the unit comes with a felt mat and dust cover. A set featuring Pro-ject’s speaker box 5 speakers and solid core speaker cable is also available.
New arm and speed control
The new arm of the Pro-Ject Juke Box E1 Turntable is pre-fitted with an Ortofon Om 5E MM cartridge. Moreover, the tracking force and anti-skate are already set for the supplied cartridge. As a result, you are ready to go straight out of the box.
Speed switching of this belt drive unit is done electronically via the control system. The all-in-one tonearm has a fixed headshell and you can easily change to another cartridge using the standard fittings. Wow and flutter is low at 0.25%.
Quick and convenient
The Pro-Ject Juke Box E1 Turntable has a built-in phono preamp as well as Bluetooth capability and a Class D, 50 Watts per channel amplifier. Just add speakers. There is also a power supply upgrade available that will improve the dynamic range and bass response. The PSU plugs in via a three-pin power plug. The upgrade should also help in reducing any possible hum and noise.
Remote control
A remote control is supplied and there is a high-contrast display on the top of the turntable. There is also a line input and output to connect to other devices. The speed control is electronic and the new damped DC motor provides good speed stability. The platter is made of a non-resonant material and the unit is well isolated on rubber feet.
About Class D amplifiers
Many compact units nowadays use Class D amplifiers. These are up to 90% efficient and generate less heat than class A/B units. As a result, they are used where space is at a premium. The output consists of a stream of high-frequency pulses.
This is known as Pulse Width Modulation. The closer together the pulses are the higher the output. Fast-switching MOSFET transistors are used for the output devices.
