Description
The PMC Twenty5.24i Active Speakers are the largest in the Twenty5 range. They feature PMC’s active technology and deliver a performance of great realism power and dynamics. The speakers have two 100-watt Class D amplifiers built in. Connection is easy with the RCA or XLR input. Just connect them to a preamp or streamer that has a volume control.
The main feature of the PMC Twenty5.22i Active Speakers is the Advanced Transmission Line Bass System. This provides stunning and accurate bass along with the two front-facing Laminair ports.
Powerful Class D amplification
A problem with Class A/B amplifiers is their high power requirements and heat generation. As a result, the PMC Twenty5.24i Active Speakers use two 100-watt Class D amplifiers. These are often used in confined spaces. Class D can be up to 90% efficient and uses a series of high-frequency pulses.
This is known as Pulse Code Modulation. The closer together the pulses are the higher the output. Moreover, the crossover in the PMC Twenty5.22i Active Speakers is placed just after the input. Each frequency band is then fed to a separate amplifier.
Deep bass response with ATL bass loading
PMC speakers use an Advanced Transmission Line Bass Loading System. The PMC Twenty5.24i Active Speakers feature a tunnel that connects the rear of the bass driver to the two front-facing Laminair ports.
The tunnel is lined with sound-absorbing materials. This results in only the low frequencies reaching the outside air. Both the main driver and the ports are in phase. This has the effect of boosting the bass.
Great musicality
The PMC Twenty5.24i Active Speakers have great musicality with accurate and deep bass along with a clear mid-range. The treble is also well-integrated and sweet with good dispersion. All you need for a full system is a preamp or streamer with a volume control. Connection is via a single RCA or balanced XLR connector.
Precision made cabinet
The cabinet of the PMC Twenty5.24i Active Speaker is made of accurately machined panels. They are made of highly specified HDF material and are tight-fitting. Some of the panels are up to 40mm thick and this creates a very homogenous enclosure with no resonances.
Additionally, modern bonding materials are used that prevent any chance of an air leak. The result is clean and uncoloured audio. Lastly, fine veneers are finished with a deep and lustrous sheen.
