Description
Ortofon 2M Blue moving magnet phono cartridge in Ortofon's new '2M' range. In comparison to the lower 2M Red, this 2M Blue features a nude elliptical diamond stylus, which is superior as it tends to pick up less fluff and dust as the stylus tracks the record and therefore is less susceptible to tracking errors.
Developed with Danish designer 'MøllerJensen Design', the same designer used for the award winning Jubilee and the Kontrapunkt ranges. The stylus is replaceable in future and the body even features tapped screw threads, so you can simply screw in the cartridge rather than fiddling around with nuts and bolts!
In similarity to the Ortofon Rondo and Ortofon Cadenza ranges, the Ortofon 2M range features an entry level red model, followed by a blue, bronze and flagship black model. The 2M Blue is the higher model over the 2M Red with the option of 2M Bronze and 2M Black models above (along with specialist 2M 78 and 2M Mono cartridges). While the 2M Red is an impressive value cartridge, the 2M Blue offers a better sound and almost sounds as if a bit of a veil has been removed from the speakers, revealing even more musicality.
