Description
The Musical Fidelity BPC 16 Power Conditioner is the largest in the range. It has three zones including one with a 2000 Watt capacity. This can power the largest monoblock amplifiers and high-power AV receivers.
Power conditioners reduce noise and provide a quiet background. Additionally, there are another two zones. Each has a capacity of 600 Watts. Lastly, surge and overvoltage protection is built in and a large toroidal transformer provides isolation.
Eight outputs with a capacity of 3200 Watts
The Musical Fidelity BPC 16 Power Conditioner has eight outputs. Two outputs are connected to a zone with a capacity of 2000 Watts. These can be used for high-powered amplifiers and AV receivers.
Additionally, there are two 600-Watt zones with two outputs each. These can be used for turntables and CD players. TVs can also be connected. You can use an extension strip as long as the output load is not exceeded.
Why multiple Zones?
Multiple zones are a feature of the Musical Fidelity BPC 16 Power Conditioner. Having separate zones prevents differential mode cross-contamination. Units with switch mode power supplies should Be connected to the same zone.
This prevents them from interfering with more sensitive units such as preamps. Moreover, units with liner pow supplies should all be connected to one of the lower-powered zones.
Efficient toroidal transformer
The Musical Fidelity BPC 5 Power Conditioner is fitted with a large toroidal transformer. This provides isolation and protection. Notably, a continuous strip of grain-oriented silicon steel is used for the core. This has no air gap.
As a result, the stacking factor is 95% and the efficiency is raised to 95%. Only 10% of the power is wasted as heat. Additionally, less heat is generated and the magnetic field is lower.
Good surge protection
The mains supply in a building can suffer from power surges and spikes that could damage sensitive audio equipment. As a result, the Musical Fidelity BPC 5 Power Conditioner has good surge protection.
Unlike lesser systems, it uses series mode surge suppression technology. This avoids any ground voltages that could introduce hum and noise. Consequently, If the unit detects a surge it will shut down the output and the indicator LED will turn red.
Overload protection with input voltage detection
The Musical Fidelity BPC 16 Power Conditioner also protects itself from overload. The output loading is monitored. Notably, If the load is too high the “no-Fuse-Breaker” will trip and shut the output down. Consequently, the indicator LED will glow red. Once the overload is removed the breaker can be reset with the push of a button.
Why a mains conditioner?
The mains system in a building is not shielded and can pick up all kinds of noise. This can be from radio and WIFI systems as well as domestic appliances. Noise can then get into audio equipment and cause the sound to be fuzzy and imprecise.
Additionally, some audio units use a switch mode power supply and this can also introduce noise. As a result, the Musical Fidelity BPC 16 Power Conditioner is designed to reduce noise and offer surge and overload protection to the connected equipment.
