Description
Mission’s LX5 MKII is a floor-standing speaker that has a refreshed design to take the place of the original LX Mk1 series’. The LX5 MK2 is the second largest floor stander speaker in the range and is 995mm in height. It features updated technology that’s taken from the brilliant QX range, and Mission’s flagship ZX range.
The LX5 MK 2 Range
Mission’s LX series range has been revisited to take the place of the older LX Mk1 models. Improved upon Mission’s entry-level range for home-theatre speakers but has been improved significantly with an improved driver design, and state of the art technology that is now available in a fresh range of finishes. The LX mk2 range is a wonderful set of speakers for audio enthusiasts seeking high quality audio at an entry-level price range.
LX5-MK2’s Driver Design
The LX-5 MKII features a lightweight 25mm dome tweeter that is made with microfibre material including a neodymium magnet for the most magnetic force where space is at a premium. The result is extremely detailed high frequencies with incredible clarity.
LX-5 MKII features two 6.5 inch bass drivers constructed with superior dual-layer fibre, which is extremely rigid for its size and is designed for excellent self-damping.
Because the LX-5 MKII is a two way speakers, the drivers function in parallel. They adopt the same technique as the QX and ZX ranges where ‘comb-tooth’ separations are attached surrounding the drivers to aid in scattering reflections that might interfere with the audio. Thanks to this, the drivers deliver a seamless frequency response with minimal resonance.
Mission’s IDG
All the speakers in the LX MK2 range use Mission’s IDG (inverted driver geometry) design, a technique where the midrange driver is placed above the tweeter. By doing this the wavelengths from the woofers and tweeters coincide at the listener’s head height at a better timing, resulting in a better timed and smoother audio experience
The LX5 Mk2 Look
The LX-5 MKII’s cabinet has installed better internal damping to reduce midrange colouration and improve bass response. It also comes in three colours, just like the rest of the LX Mk2 range; these are Walnut Pearl, Lux Black and Lux White.
