Description
The Linn Klimax System Hub is the best value of the three Klimax system components. The other two are the AV and Audio versions. This component can stream from multiple sources via Bluetooth or WI-Fi. It also has a large TFT display that makes it easy to control the unit. Moreover, the unit has a good range of analogue inputs including two pairs of phono inputs and one pair of balanced XLR inputs.
Additionally, there are four HDMI inputs and one HDMI output. Next, the unit has two Exakt outputs that can be used with Linn speakers for a more accurate sound. Finally, the Linn-designed DAC has a superb smooth sound and performance.
Top-of-the-line Streaming capability
Today most music is streamed, either from online providers or locally from a network-connected drive. The Linn Klimax System Hub can play most digital formats at up to 24-bit 192kHz. It also has built-in streaming capability from hi-res services such as Tidal and Quobuz. Airplay 2 is also supported for connecting Apple devices. Network connectivity is provided by built-in Bluetooth, WI-Fi, and a wired Ethernet connector.
Good analogue connectivity
Analogue connectivity is good with the Linn Klimax System Hub, there are two sets of RCA inputs as well as a pair of balanced XLR inputs. You will need a phono preamp to use a turntable. There are also USB and optical digital inputs. Moreover, you can connect video sources such as Blu-ray players and game consoles. Additionally, There is an HDMI output for connecting to a TV or Projector.
Organik Linn designed DAC
The Linn Klimax System Hub features a custom Linn-designed DAC that uses an eight-layer circuit board. The PCB design ensures that the clock signal arrives at all points at exactly the same time. There are no small errors in switching times or resistor values that can add distortion. There is also an ultra-stable power supply that uses multiple power planes. The sound quality and performance are better than Linn has ever achieved before.
What is Exakt?
Exakt is a technology developed by Linn, that ensures that the bass, mid and high frequencies arrive at the listener at the same time. Most speakers exhibit a phase error between the drivers and this can distort the sound and upset the timing. Some speakers try to mitigate this by having a cabinet that tills backwards so that the tweeter is slightly further away from the listener.
However, Exakt-equipped Linn speakers have a specially designed crossover that takes an Exakt feed from amplifiers, or in this case the Linn Klimax System Hub. The hub has two Exakt connectors for this purpose. The result is a much smoother and more accurate sound.
What is Space Optimization?
Your speaker's type and positioning greatly affect the sound. As a result, Linn has measured the characteristics of many speakers. Now, the built-in Space Optimisation system, of the Linn Klimax System Hub, can be used to fine-tune the sound. This will then remove any phase errors and distortion. The Space Optimisation system is used in conjunction with Exakt, see above.
