Description
The Linn 119 speaker is a 2-way bookshelf speaker with a smooth and accurate performance. The premium drive units provide a refined sound with good neutrality. Optional pedestal stands are available.
The frequency response is 50Hz to 20kHz and there is a rear-firing bass port. Moreover, the speaker can be fitted with a Linn Exact unit for perfectly phase-matched drivers. A ferrofluid-cooled 19.55mm tweeter ensures powerful highs.
Premium bass drive unit
The 16cm woofer fitted to the Linn 119 speaker has good linear performance and excursion. The bass unit is mounted close to the front of the baffle with no obscuring grille. This minimizes sound loss and enhances the cone excursion.
The driver cone is made of coated paper and has a large ferrite magnet motor assembly. The bass port can be bunged when used with the Exact DSP engine. In other words, the active exact amplifier modules take care of the bass management.
Ferrofluid cooled tweeter
The tweeter fitted to the 119 speakers is a 19.55mm soft Sonomex domed unit. The tweeter also has a large ferrite magnet and the voice coil is ferrofluid cooled. This type of cooling is often used in high-powered systems to prevent the voice coil from overheating and burning out. Lastly, The tweeter is covered by a rotatable guard in the form of a Linn logo.
A quality crossover
The crossover components in the Linn 119 speaker are the best possible quality and provide good signal purity. Consequently, the sound has excellent speed and dynamism. Crossovers are made up of capacitors and inductors. The capacitors need to be of good quality to avoid electrical leakage with age. They are normally polypropylene types that will last a lifetime. Notably having capacitors in a circuit can affect the timing of the drivers. Hence Linn developed the Exakt system.
Exakt upgrades
Linn 119 speakers can be fitted with Exakt units in minutes. Exakt is a Linn technology that ensures that the sound from multiple drivers, in two or three-way speaker systems, arrives at the ears simultaneously. Any phase errors are corrected for a very smooth and accurate sound.
High-quality cabinet design
Four high-quality finishes are available, Satin Black, White, Walnut, or Oak veneered. Moreover, the trim piece and logo are magnet-mounted and can be rotated 360 degrees. Optional stands are available and the four quality binding posts are gold platted.
