Description
From Analogue Productions comes another classic title in our Ultra Tape reel-to-reel album reissue series. Each is a 15 ips, ¼-inch analog tape copy (IEC equalization) sourced from a copy of the original analog master tape. Transferred real-time, using an ATR-modified Ampex Tape Machine with flux magnetic heads. Custom slipcase cover.
Since its original release on LP in the mid-1950s, Fritz Reiner's rendition of the "Concerto for Orchestra" has stood as the standard against which all other recordings of the work are measured. Reiner's superb control of his orchestra and of Bartók's rhythms and textures is still unsurpassed, even by dozens of subsequent conductors in the digital age. Likewise, the "Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta" shows just what an incredible ensemble the Chicago Symphony was under Reiner's direction.

PLEASE NOTE: you must have a reel to reel machine capable of playing tape at 15ips (most machines only play 3.75 and 7.5ips which is too slow) and CCIR equalisation (most machines only play NAB). We recommend a well serviced machine like Studer A810, Otari MX-5050, Sony TC880-2, Revox B77 MkIII (only this latest model plays CCIR at 15ips) etc.
