The Focal Azurys Headphones are a quality closed-back design with a striking look. They offer an immersive listening experience as well as a sophisticated sound. The price is also affordable. The 40mm drivers use aluminium and magnesium metals to deliver exceptional clarity.
Moreover, the luxury headband features a leather cover and memory foam earpads, for comfort. The lightweight design is good for those on the go. Lastly, the frequency response is 20Hz to 22kHz and they weigh only 300 grams.
“M” dome drivers for exceptional clarity
The Aluminium/Magnesium "M" dome speakers in the Focal Azurys Headphones, are engineered in France by Focal. The two materials act together to deliver exceptional clarity and precision. Connectivity is via a 3.5mm socket and a lead is provided.
Luxury leather headband
The headband of the Focal Azurys Headphones is covered with breathable fine leather. Moreover, the earpads contain memory foam for a comfortable fit. The headband also uses braided textiles for durability. Lastly, the magnesium yoke makes the headphones lightweight and perfect for those on the go.
The clue is in the name
The colour pallet of the Focal Azurys Headphones is inspired by azurite a semi-precious blue-coloured stone. The effect is modern and elegant and features Focal’s iconic logo. It is recommended that these headphones are run in before they reach optimal performance. They can be operated at a relatively high volume for 24 hours to achieve this.
Headphone connectors
Most modern amplifiers and smartphones have a standard 3.5mm connector. The Focal Azurys Headphones have a built-in socket of this size. Additionally, a lead is provided with a 3.5mm plug on both ends. Some older amplifiers may have a 6.3mm socket. However, adaptors are readily available. Higher quality leads are also available.
Headphone amplifiers
The sound quality of smartphones and tablets can be improved by using an external DAC. Hi-end headphones such as the Focal Azurys Headphones would benefit from a quality DAC. The DACs built into smartphones are not optimized for audio and separate DACs are available that can be plugged into your phone's charger socket. There are also dedicated headphone amplifiers that far outperform those fitted to most integrated amplifiers.
