Description
Focal Aria Evo X No1 speakers are the most compact and only bookshelf speaker in the Aria Evo X range - although despite this namesake for smaller speakers, of course we recommend using them with speaker stands for the best sound.
The bass/midrange driver is a 16.5 cm flax coned unit and the tweeter is Focal’s renowned “M” shaped inverted dome design. The sound has excellent dynamics along with a widely dispersed treble. Lastly, the recommended amplifier power is 25-125 watts and the frequency range is 55Hz to 30kHz.
Flax cone bass/midrange driver
The Focal Aria Evo X No 1 Speakers feature a Focal patented flax cone. Flax is a natural fibre and this material is sandwiched between two layers of glass fibre. As a result, it has several properties that make it deliver a neutral and natural sound. The cone is lightweight for good dynamics and has good dampening characteristics. Also, colouration is low and the midrange is rich.
TAM tweeter
Focal developed the TAM tweeter that is used by the Focal Aria Evo X No 1 Speakers. It offers a wide diffusion angle along with great definition. The ‘M’-shaped aluminium/magnesium inverted dome cone is designed to have a good harmonic balance as well as a detailed treble.
Tuned mass damper
The Focal Aria Evo X No 1 Speakers feature a TMD (Tuned Mass damper) surrounded by a harmonic damper. Harmonics are the spurious multiple frequencies generated by a note at a particulate base frequency. Damping these out reduces distortion and colouration.
Also, the surround that connects the speaker cone to the speaker's frame is critical to midrange clarity. The Focal TMD (Tuned Mass Damper) creates a more homogenised timbre.
The crossover
The crossover uses high-quality components. The crossover frequency is 2.8kHz. That is the point where the high pass filter starts to filter out the lower frequencies. This signal then feeds the tweeter. The crossover components, usually capacitors and inductors, need to be of a high quality for a long life, and so that they do not drift in value over time.
Three sophisticated finishes
The Focal Aria Evo X No 1 Speakers along with the rest of the Aria Evo range feature three luxurious finishes. High gloss black, Prime walnut, and High gloss moss green. The front panels have a luxury leather effect and magnetic grilles are included.
