Description
The Dali Rubikore 8 Speakers are the flagship model in the range. They feature three 6.5” “Clarity Cone” bass/mid drivers that have double magnets. Moreover, there are two tweeters. A low-loss dome tweeter and a planar magnetic tweeter.
As a result, the high frequency is extended up to 34kHz. The sound is natural and warm. Next, the bass/mid-range units use Dali’s SMC magnetic material. This material has improved audio characteristics. Lastly, there is a rear-firing, continuous flare bass port. This reduces air turbulence for a cleaner sound.
New Clarity Cone drivers
For amazing bass performance the Dali Rubikore 8 Speakers have three 6.5” “Clarity Cone” drivers. Moreover, a new magnetic material known as SMC, is used for the driver magnets. This is a granular magnetic material that has improved audio characteristics compared with iron.
It can also be moulded into any shape. As a result, eddy currents are reduced and frequency response is smoothed out. Moreover, non-linearity is reduced as well as distortion and colouration.
Low-loss dome tweeter
The first of the tweeters used by the Dali Rubikore 8 Speakers is a ferrofluid-cooled, domed unit with low-loss characteristics. This tweeter is paired with a planar magnetic ribbon unit. Additionally, the surrounding waveguide aids with high-frequency dispersion.
Notably, at high volume levels the ferrofluid material wicks heat away from the voice coil to prevent burnouts. Lastly, the ribbon tweeter extends the high-frequency response. As tweeters are directional it is recommended that they be close to the listener's ear level.
Why ribbon tweeters?
The Dali Rubikore 8 Speakers also have a planar magnetic or ribbon tweeter. This improves the high-frequency performance. Ribbon tweeters have a much lighter diaphragm than domed tweeters. This makes them far more responsive giving them a higher level of acceleration. As a result, they can produce shorter wavelengths boosting the frequency response up to 34kHz.
Upgraded crossover
In the Dali Rubikore 8 Speakers, there is a crossover. This is designed to split the audio band into two for feeding to the drivers. Inductors and capacitors are used to create a high pass filter for the tweeters. Moreover, the inductors use Soft Magnetic compound (SMC) cores.
This material has enhanced magnetic properties that reduce signal loss. Additionally, the capacitors used have a polypropylene dielectric that will last for decades. Lastly, the bass is enhanced with a continuous flare reflex port. This reduces air turbulence for a smoother sound.
Danish quality cabinets
The quality cabinets of the Dali Rubikore 8 Speakers are hand-crafted in Denmark. Only the finest materials are used to make this rigid and resonance-free structure. Finally, four beautiful finishes are available. High gloss white, high gloss black, natural walnut, and high gloss maroon.
Who are Dali?
Dali is based in Denmark and has been making high-end speakers for over forty years. The Dali Rubikore 8 Speaker is part of the Rubikore range that features another large floor stander. There is also a bookshelf pair as well as a centre speaker and wall-mounted speakers.
These can be used for home cinema systems. Dali also makes architectural speakers that can be built into walls and ceilings.
