Description
The Dali Phantom E-80 WR Weather Resistant Ceiling Speaker is a slightly larger version of the E-60. It has a 200mm bass/midrange unit and a 25mm tweeter. This unit is recommended for bigger rooms.
The tweeter is mounted on an isolated arm that prevents any interference from the bass/midrange unit. Moreover, the speaker is weather-resistant to IP65 standards. They are also easy to install.
Discreet white baffle
Weather resistance is built into the Dali Phantom E-80 WR speaker. It is weatherproofed to the IP65 specification and this makes them ideal for high humidity locations such as bathrooms and patios. Lastly, the white baffle makes them unobtrusive and installation is easy with the swing-out dogleg clamps
Versatile uses
The Dali Phantom E-80 WR Weather Resistant Ceiling Speaker is good for well-sheltered outdoor locations. This includes the laundry room, bathroom, spa, or by the pool. Background music is well presented with the slightly larger size and the bass is more punchy.
Each speaker can be used on its own In multiples or in pairs for stereo. Moreover, the tweeter and woofer can be pointed in a particular direction to enhance the sound. Lastly, the enclosure is dust and sand-resistant.
A quality crossover
Two-way crossover is used in the Dali Phantom E-80 WR Weather Resistant Ceiling Speaker. This splits the audio signal into two components. The quality of the capacitors used is important for an even frequency response and a long life. Here polypropylene types are used. These resist moisture, unlike previous paper dielectric types.
25mm textile domed tweeter
The tweeter uses a textile dome rather than paper for moisture resistance. The tweeter is also mounted on a decoupled housing. The tweeter sits in front of the bass/midrange driver to save space. Notably, the arm prevents any mutual interference. Lastly, the tweeter has a 5-degree tilt that enables it to be pointed at the listening area.
Using ceiling speakers
Custom installations often involve ceiling speakers. Moreover, certain home cinema systems, such as Dolby Atmos, use them. It is usually easier to include them in new builds. However, they can be fitted to existing buildings.
The Dali Phantom E-80 WR Weather Resistant Ceiling Speaker has a slightly larger cone for extended bass. This also means that less of them need to be used. Speakers should be at least two metres away from each other.
