Description
The Bowers & Wilkins CCM362 Ceiling Speakers feature a two-way design in a small space. They are the best-value ceiling speakers in the range. Notably, there is a 6” polypropylene bass/midrange drive along with a 1” soft dome tweeter. The speakers also resist moisture and can be used in demanding environments such as indoor swimming pools or shower rooms. The design has a minimal width border and the maximum power handling is 80 Watts.
Why ceiling speakers?
In-ceiling speakers can be used to create a more immersive audio experience. They are discrete and most commonly used with home cinema systems such as Dolby Atmos. However, they are also used where it would be inconvenient or impossible to fit normal speakers such as swimming pool rooms and shower rooms. As a result, the Bowers & Wilkins CCM362 Ceiling Speakers are moisture-proof. Moreover, the sound has more dimensionality and realism.
Dolby Atmos and ceiling speakers
Dolby Atmos is a 3D surround sound system that started in cinemas but is now available in the home. It uses ceiling speakers to create an immersive 3D sound field. The Bowers & Wilkins CCM362 Ceiling Speakers can be used in such a system. Dolby Atmos works by having individual sound “objects” that can be panned to anywhere in 3D space. For example the sound of an aircraft passing overhead. Dolby Atmos also uses side and rear speakers.
Bower and Wilkins architectural speakers
There are other ceiling speakers in the Bower and Wilkins range that go up to around 8” with a maximum power rating of 120 Watts. Some have adjustable tweeters for targeted sound. Bower and Wilkins also make a range of Wall speakers, mounting kits, and back boxes. Notably larger speakers tend to have more bass.
