Apple AirPlay 2

Bluesound Pulse Flex 2i is designed to support AirPlay 2 (to be delivered to Gen 2i owners via upcoming software update). With AirPlay 2, you can stream just about any sound from iPhone, iPad, or Mac to your Bluesound system — all in sync. Stream music, books and podcasts from your favourite apps, or watch videos on any Apple device while streaming the audio through to this Gen 2i Player – imagine watching Netflix on an iPad while filling the room with premium sound.

AirPlay 2 also gives users more options for control, including using Siri for voice assistance. Once you add your Gen 2i Player to the Apple Home App on your iPhone or iPad, Apple Music subscribers can use their iOS device or HomePod to say things like: “Hey Siri, play smooth jazz in the Living Room” or “Hey Siri, turn it up in the Kitchen.” Add the second generation of Airplay 2 to older Bluesound Players via the BluOS App compatible with your complete entire BluOS system.

Two-Way Bluetooth

Gen 2i contains Bluesound’s most advanced take on Bluetooth to date - two-way Bluetooth, featuring both Receive and Transmit functionality. The "receive" function enables you to stream wirelessly to a Bluesound Player. The Transmit on the other hand lets you use Bluesound Gen 2i Player as a source, sending what you are listening to via Bluetooth to a pair of wireless headphones.

aptX HD Bluetooth

While improving the Bluetooth connectivity in Gen 2i, audio quality improvements are also ensured. Pulse Mini 2i employs an upgraded Qualcomm CSR8675 module supporting 24-bit wireless audio via the aptX HD codec over Bluetooth.

This enhances signal-to-noise ratio for lower background noise and facilitates up to 24bit/48kHz streaming from a compatible device to a Gen 2i Player for quality that is better-than-CD. Contemporary wireless convenience with no degradation of performance.

BluOS 3.0

Updating to BluOS 3.0, all BluOS users will gain access to new music services like SOUNDMACHINE and Taihe Music Zone (China only) and an easier guided set-up process. Plumbing for BluOS’s first voice integration, Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant will be included, with the corresponding library of skills to launch soon. BluOS 3.0 also contains specific support for Gen 2i features like two-way Bluetooth with aptX HD, and enhanced audio EQ settings including wide mode and deep bass.

With an advanced WiFi antennae design and ARM Cortex A9 Processors, Bluesound ensures that there are no skips or delays in every corner of your home even when streaming high-res audio files. Play the same music in perfect harmony or different music to any player in any room. Bluesound has upgraded the Wi-Fi chipset technology to the latest and greatest Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) dual-band offering. This allows you to take advantage of the less noisy 5 GHz band if needed resulting in faster connection times and fewer interruptions from other network traffic.

Pulse Amplification

All-new, custom-designed digital amplifiers in Bluesound’s Pulse Mini 2i effectively double the available driving power. The improvement is drastic with better bass response and more dynamic acoustic soundscapes.

The new driver configurations complement the upgraded amplification with the Pulse Mini 2i now functioning as a true stereo speaker. Users have better control over their audio settings. Popular DSP settings like Wide Mode, Late Night, and Dialogue from the Bluesound Pulse Soundbar are now available to these updated Gen 2i speakers.
