Description
The Audio Technica AT-LP8 turntable is a higher end semi-automatic unit that has a newly designed tonearm that automatically lifts at the end of a record. The motor then stops. The J-shaped tonearm has a removable headshell and is pre-fitted with an AT-VM95E BK cartridge.
The diecast aluminium plater is driven by a direct drive motor and the power supply is built into the base. An RCA output is provided along with a phono lead that has an extra grounding wire. There is matching hinged dust cover.
Vintage inspired J-shaped tonearm
The J-shaped tonearm fitted to the Audio Technica AT-LP8 Turntable is inspired by the A-T models from the 1960s. Moreover, the headshell has been redesigned and comes with an AT-VM95E BK (black) cartridge with a 0.3 x 0.7 mil elliptical stylus.
This combination has excellent channel separation and low distortion. Additionally, the stylus can be upgraded with a Microlinear or Shibata type for even better performance. Lastly, you can adjust the VTA and sub-counterweight for other cartridge types.
Die-cast aluminium platter
The die-cast aluminium platter is driven by a direct drive motor and is servo controlled for accurate speed. Additionally, the platter comes with a 2.5mm rubber mat. The motor and switching power supply are mounted on the box plinth.
Two RCA output connectors are provided. The plinth is made of 16mm MDF that has good anti-resonance properties. Notably, this is a three-speed unit and will play 78 RPM records. Lastly, rubber feet are fitted that isolates the unit from vibration.
The supplied Audio Technica AT-VM95E BK cartridge
The Audio Technica AT-VM95E BK cartridge is a well-specified dual magnet unit with a frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz. The recommended tracking weight is 2g. Moreover, there are six stylus variants. Conical, bonded elliptical, nude elliptical, Microlinear, and Shibata. There is also a larger tipped stylus for 78 RPM records.
