Description
The System Audio Signature 6 Wall Speaker is the smallest of the two wall-mount speakers in the Signature range. They can be used in many applications. For example, the main left and right speakers in small rooms.
Additionally, they can be used as the centre channel in a home cinema system or as the rear and side surround speakers. At only 34cm tall they are unobtrusive but pack a punch. The power handling is 100 watts and they have a wide frequency response from 70Hz to 25kHz.
1” Signature DXT tweeter with acoustic lens
A quality 1” Signature DXT tweeter with an acoustic lens is featured in the System Audio Signature 6 Wall Speaker. Normally the tweeter should be at ear level. This is because high frequencies have a short wavelength and are directional.
However, this is not always possible. As a result, manufacturers use a waveguide or acoustic lens to create a wider listening area. A lens is a more sophisticated version of a waveguide and provides a well-defined treble.
A 5.5” woofer for stunning bass
The System Audio Signature 6 Wall Speaker features a 5.5” woofer. This unit has a lightweight membrane that provides a fast response. The drivers are fitted into a sealed wooden cabinet, this prevents boomy bass when placed against a wall. It also gives a more precise sound. Moreover, the well-braced cabinet prevents resonance.
A quality crossover
Two-way speakers such as the System Audio Signature 6 Wall Speaker need a crossover to supply each driver. In this case, a high pass filter is created using capacitors and inductors. The capacitors need to be of a high quality so that they do not fail with age.
A common fault with older equipment is capacitor failure. This is due to the paper dielectric attracting moisture and going leaky. Modern capacitors use a plastic dielectric that lasts for decades.
Home cinema systems with the System Audio Signature 6 Wall Speaker
Home cinema systems feature multiple channels and the signature speaker range can be used to create simple or complex systems. The simplest is a 5.1 system. This has a front left and right pair of speakers and a centre channel.
There are also two rear surround channels. The System Audio Signature 6 Wall Speaker can be used for the rear channels. The .1 stands for a subwoofer. A more complex Dolby Atmos system can also be created. Notably, the System Audio Signature 6 Wall Speaker makes a good side or ceiling speaker for Dolby Atmos systems
