Description

Reloop Turn7 turntable sits above the Turn3 and Turn5 models and is the next best thing to the TurnX, with some useful features and an eye-catching design. It meets the high standards expected by audiophiles and features top quality components as well as a LED lit acrylic platter.

It also has an external drive belt for a sophisticated look. Unusually this is a three-speed unit, that can play 78’s. Moreover, there is a USB output that makes digitizing your record collection easy. Finally, for maximum versatility there is a built-in phone preamp.

Powerful and stable drive

The low vibration DC motor is top mounted, for maximum isolation. The belt runs along the exterior of the turntable for a sophisticated look and easy access. A quality rotary switch allows you to change the speed, which also includes 78 RPM.

Heavy acrylic platter

The heavy acrylic plater weighs in at 1.7kg. This mass helps to maintain the speed, and the build uses precision manufacturing. As a result, crystal clear audio is produced, with no introduced vibration. Acrylic also has excellent antistatic characteristics to prevent dust attraction.

The satin finish of the platter also contrasts nicely with the black finish of the deck. Another fun feature is the led lighting. The blue glow highlights the platter, and gives the turntable a unique look, with some fine ambience.

Carbon fibre tonearm

The top-of-the-line tonearm is made of carbon fibre for lightness and low mass. Notably there is a vertical tracking height adjustment as well as anti-skate. Therefore, you can ensure maximum precision, with the cartridge setup. Carbon fibre is made of carbon atoms bonded together in long chains. This makes it very strong and lightweight.

Top quality cartridge pre-installed

The Turn7 comes fitted with an Ortofon 2M Red cartridge. This is a great entry level cartridge with an elliptical stylus. The cartridge has excellent sonic properties as well as a high accuracy of reproduction. The 2m is highly versatile, with changeable styli as well as 78 tips, available. Finally, the universal headshell allows you to change to a different cartridge with ease.

Built in phono stage

The Turn7 comes with a switchable phono preamp built in. It can be switched out for connection to an amplifier that has a built-in phono preamp. The output RCA sockets are gold plated for corrosion resistance. Moreover, there is a USB output for connection to a PC. This enables you to digitise your record collection.

By the time microgroove records came along in 1948 the equalization used for cutting the disc had been standardised. This is known as the RIAA equalization curve. As a result, bass is cut to reduce overmodulation of the groove and treble is boosted. When played back treble is cut to reduce surface noise and the bass is boosted. Therefore, the playback is essentially flat. However, 78 s were recorded will all kinds of odd equalizations. This can be fixed by adjusting your bass and treble controls. Alternatively, it can be changed in software. See below.

Digitise your records with the USB connection.

A USB connection is provided that can be connected to a computer for easy digitization. You can then transfer your record collection using free software such as audacity. This will enable you to remove clicks and pops as well as re-equalize records such as 78’s. 78’s have a larger groove width than LP’s. In fact, it three times larger, at 3 mill. (three thousands of an inch). Therefore, you need the correct stylus tip to play 78’s properly. The Ortofon 2M cartridge series has a 78-rpm stylus available. Too small a stylus will drag along the bottom of the groove vastly increasing surface noise.
