Description
The Pro-ject Speaker Box 5 E Speaker is designed to be an excellent match for Pro-ject Box amplifiers. Moreover, the unit is well-priced and compact. Next, the speaker features a 1” silk dome tweeter and a 5” glass fibre bass/midrange unit.
The E version is an upgrade to the classic Box 5. The sound is superlative with low colouration and great transparency. Notably, the frequency range is 60Hz to 20khz and the cabinet is bass ported. Finally, The well-braced cabinet is available in a range of colours.
One Inch silk dome tweeter and a quality crossover
The tweeter in the Pro-ject Speaker Box 5 E Speaker is a 1” silk dome unit. This makes highs transparent and smooth. Notably, the high-frequency response goes up to 20kHz. Moreover, silk-domed tweeters tend to produce a more natural sound.
Additionally, the crossover uses only the best components. The capacitors and inductors are PCB mounted and not hanging in the air. This reduces distortion, especially in the midrange.
5” fibre glass main driver
A 5” fibre glass coned bass/midrange driver is fitted to the Pro-ject Speaker Box 5 E Speaker. This unit is highly rigid and stiff. As a result, there is less distortion at high volumes. Additionally, the powerful motor magnet produces a remarkable amount of bass for its size.
Heavy duty non-resonant MDF cabinet
The cabinet of the Pro-ject Speaker Box 5 E Speakers is made of audio grade MDF. This material tends to resist resonances and the chassis is firmly attached to the box. Low frequencies go down to 68 Hz and the cabinet has a rear firing port to boost the bass.
