Description
The Pro-Ject Signature 10 Superpack Turntable comes with a top-of-the-line Ortofon Cadenza Black MC cartridge. This good value pack offers a more affordable solution to the flagship Signature 12. The heavy MDF plinth is filled with metal granules.
The granules create a very rigid base. Next comes the sub-chassis, which isolates the platter from vibration and noise. The 10” tonearm is made of a mixture of metal alloys for superior performance. Lastly, the headshell is easily changed to allow the use of specialist cartridge types.
Heavy metal granule plinth
The large and gorgeously finished plinth of the Pro-Ject Signature 10 Superpack Turntable is made of heavy MDF. The material is filled with metal granules. This creates a non-resonant base for the platter and arm assembly.
The plinth is then mounted on four magnetic feet. The feet are lined with TPE pillows that provide good decoupling from the shelf or stand. This provides the high-mass, floating turntable design preferred by Pro-Ject.
Magnetic sub-chassis
The Pro-Ject Signature 10 Superpack Turntable also comes with a mass-loaded magnetic sub-chassis. This chassis reduces resonance and noise pickup. Moreover, the large and heavy main platter is made of a specially machined resonance-optimized metal alloy.
The platter sits on top of the magnetic sub-chassis on an inverted metal bearing. As a result, the mechanism is very free-running and resists speed changes. Moreover, the platter is lined with damping material. Additionally, the top surface is coated with melted vinyl records.
External belt drive motor
The external motor is driven by a highly accurate speed controller. This also allows for easy touch speed switching, on this two-speed turntable. The Pro-Ject Signature 10 Superpack Turntable motor rotates the platter by an easily accessible belt which provides exceptional timing.
Signature tonearm
The Pro-Ject Signature 10 Superpack Turntable is fitted with the 10” Signature tonearm. This remarkable-looking tonearm is made of metal and aluminium alloys. The tonearm is made with ultra-precise diamond cutters on CNC machinery.
Moreover, the tonearm tube is filled with damping material that adds mass. Additionally, the tube is mounted using an oil-damped Uni-Pivot bearing. Lastly, for easy setup, the signature tonearms have, VTA, Azimuth, and overhang adjustments. As a result, most cartridge sizes can be accommodated.
Detachable headshell
The detachable headshell allows for easy switching between cartridges. As a result specialist cartridges can be fitted such as those specifically designed for mono or 78RPM records. However, this special pack comes with an Ortofon Cadenza black MC cartridge.
The Ortofon Cadenza Black MC cartridge
The Ortofon Cadenza Black MC cartridge provides the best of everything, with a Nude Shibata stylus and a boron cantilever. This provides an extremely low-mass stylus/cantilever system. Boron is very stiff and light and gives a remarkable tracking ability, particularly at high frequencies.
The nude Shibata stylus is narrow and comes to a sharper tip. This means that it can read more detail from the groove. They are also renowned for better channel separation.
