Description
The Pro-Ject Phono Box E BT 5 Turntable Streamer turns your turntable into a Bluetooth streamer, Any turntable with an MM cartridge can be connected and then streamed to Bluetooth devices such as Bluetooth headphones or speakers.
The unit has standard RCA outputs as well as a 3.5mm output. You can also connect another line-level signal and use this unit as an input expander. Additionally, Pro-Ject makes other small boxed units such as phono preamps and DACs.
A quality phono preamp
Any moving magnet-equipped turntable can be connected to the Pro-Ject Phono Box E BT 5 Turntable Streamer. The box then acts as a phono preamp. It can be connected to an amplifier, active speakers, or a soundbar via RCA outputs or a 3.5mm output. Moreover, you can also connect line-level sources and switch between them.
Send Bluetooth to an active speaker or headphones
The Pro-Ject Phono Box E BT 5 Turntable Streamer will also send the signal from your turntable to any Bluetooth receiver within 10 metres. The latest Bluetooth 5.00 codecs are used such as aptXHD and adaptive aptX. Moreover, this unit delivers high-resolution sound to Bluetooth headphones, speakers, and soundbars.
About turntables and cartridges
There are two types of phono cartridges in use today. The Pro-Ject Phono Box E BT 5 Turntable Streamer is intended for moving magnet types with an output of around 5mV. Moving coil types have a much lower output and would require a further preamp.
Pro-ject makes a passive step-up box that is suitable. The Pro-Ject Phono Box E BT 5 Turntable Streamer also applies RIAA equalization to the signal. This is because records are cut with boosted treble and reduced bass to improve noise performance.
