Description
The Traveller is Lehmann Audio's first portable headphone amplifier and delivers a unique sound experience always and everywhere, whether you’re at home, in the office or on the move.
Seriously compact
Similar in size to the Astell and Kern AK100 and Astell and Kern AK120 but at a far lower price, the Traveller delivers purity in sound from your audio source. We've listened to music via Apple and Android devices through Spotify and also with high res music on FiiO portable players and the sound quality improvement from the Traveller is quite remarkable.
What is Traveller?
Traveller is a battery-powered headphone amplifier and fantastic introduction into the world of Lehmann headphone amps, a range that includes the award winning Lehmann Rhinelander and Lehmann Linear, alongside the flagship Lehmann Linear SE. Now they've taken their many years experience and combined them into the Traveller.
Why portable?
It's designed to escort you with perfect sound quality on all of your daily little trips and big journeys (providing it's safe to listen of course). Something which, due to the small housing dimensions, should not be a difficult task. Lehmannaudio’s managing director Norbert Lehmann says "the Traveller is roughly as big as a cigarette box and hence provides music lovers with a unique sound experience anywhere and anytime...the Traveller makes every headphone shine".
Traveller also won awards for innovation and design very quickly after it was launched, scooping a Plus X award for "Best Product of the Year 2014"

Its small but its high end
Without effort the handy Traveller can also drive demanding headphones such as the Sennheiser HD 800 or the Beyerdynamic T1, which are connected via solid mini jack sockets from Lumberg. This is made possible by two pairs of parallel inputs and outputs plus another input and output socket on the the front and rear panel. Of course, there are no cables visible on the faceplate. Traveller is operated by two push buttons, whereby the tone control takes places electronically and thus with utmost precision – even down to extremely low volume levels.
Traveller is also ideally suited for persons with hearing impairments: when needed, the so-called "Center Adjust" function of the headphone amp optimises the imaging of the acoustical centre. That way every music lover can level out unevenly recorded source signals or listening differences between the right and left ear.
How does it sound so good?
The exceptionally transparent sound is guaranteed by the discrete zero global feedback output stage. The voltage amplification is provided by audiophile components from Analog Devices and Burr Brown. The Li-ion accumulator should also be able to convince the users with up to 20 hours of joyful listening.
Key Benefits
- Pocket size analogue headphone amplifier
- Intuitive handling
- Up to more than 20 hours of battery runtime
- Compatible with all players
- Usable as preamp for active loudspeakers
- ‘Center Adjust’, an innovative built-in balance adjustment without additional electronic parts

Press Reviews
'Sound-wise the Traveller performs very well and is a clear step up from some of the less expensive portable headphone amps I’ve tried, with an ability to give the perception of there being much more going on in the music. The Traveller’s strong points are the drive it gives to music and the detail of a recording it manages to bring out.' (Hifipig.com) (read the full review here)
