Description
The Musical Fidelity M6x 250.5 five channel amplifier is one of three Musical Fidelity M6 designs, that have five, seven or eleven channels respectively. The 250 indicates that each channel has 250 watts of power. Each amplifier module is a separate class AB amplifier. Additionally, massive toroidal transformers and hi-grade capacitors make for a clean source of power. This is a very robustly constructed unit, and the black case is made of a strong aluminium extrusion. Connectivity is good with both RCA and balanced XLR inputs. The M6 range is affordable and well made.
Cinema Sound at Home
The domestic surround sound system started in the 1980’s with a simple three speaker setup and evolved into today’s object based surround systems, such as Dolby Atmos or DTS. The M6 250.5, five channel amplifier will become the heart of a powerful home cinema system. Clean sound is assured with the balanced XLR inputs or you can connect you preamplifier/AV processor via RCA connectors.
Excellent RCA and XLR Connectivity
The M6x 250.5 has hi-grade connectivity with balanced XLR inputs, for increased dynamics, less noise and a good signal to noise ratio. Alternatively, you can use the gold plated RCA connectors. There is also a loop through, output option, if you need to feed the same signal into multiple amplifier modules. Next, the speaker terminals are also gold plated and isolated. They will take 4mm plugs spade connectors or bare wire. Finally, you can turn the unit on or off with the trigger input.
Class AB Power Amplifier Modules
Each power amplifier, in the M6 250.5, is a separate module giving 250 Watts of power in 8 ohms. They are class AB, for maximum fidelity and a natural sound. An important part of cinema amplifiers is maintaining transients, i.e explosions, this requires a beefy power supply. Large toroidal transformers provide enough current to give a high dynamic range and a detailed sound stage. Additionally large heatsinks mean that a cooling fan is not needed, keeping silent movie sections silent.

Who are Musical Fidelity
Musical fidelity was founded forty years ago. Their first product was The Preamp. This unit received rave reviews and the A1 integrated amplifier followed in 1984.
