Description
The Bowers & Wilkins 607 S3 speakers are the most compact in the 600 range, yet offer a power and scale that belies their size, of only 30cm high. They are award winners offering excellent performance.
In contrast to the older model they replace, the 607 S3 features the latest titanium dome tweeter and Bower & Wilkin’s Renowned Continuum bass/midrange driver. The recommended amplifier power is 30-100 watts and the frequency response is 52Hz to 28kHz.
These are bass-ported speakers, for an improved low-frequency response and will perform at their best on dedicated speaker stands. We also sell the matching FS-600 stands
Titanium dome tweeters
An all-new titanium tweeter is featured in the Bowers & Wilkins 607 S3 Speakers. This unit provides exceptional resolution with refined high frequencies along with musical insight and a smooth response.
The attractive grille mesh is acoustically transparent and was first developed for the Signature models. The grille also acts as a waveguide that can widen the high-frequency dispersion pattern.
Composite bass/midrange drivers
The Bowers & Wilkins 607 S3 speakers feature a composite coned bass/midrange unit. The Continuum cone does not display any abrupt transitions in response that can impair the performance of lesser drivers.
The driver delivers voices and instruments with precision and warmth. This is a bass-ported design rather than a sealed box.
Crossover components
The crossover in a loudspeaker is important as it affects the overall frequency response. In a two-way speaker, it comprises a high pass filter that is made of inductors and capacitors. This ensures that just the high frequencies get to the tweeter. The capacitors have to be of high quality as they have to last for decades without going leaky or changing value. This S3 model also features upgraded speaker terminals for the best possible connection.
Home cinema systems
The 600 series from Bowers & Wilkins can be used to create home cinema systems in fact there is a speaker package available. A basic surround system comprises a front left and right pair of speakers and a rear surround pair.
The 600 range includes a matching centre speaker. The centre channel is normally used for movie dialogue and effects and its especially important to pick a centre speaker which is voice matched to the front speakers.
